More children in the Goulburn electorate will have access to quality early childhood education, with the official reopening of Big Fat Smiles’ Bundanoon District Community preschool today.

Bundanoon Preschool received more than $815,000 to expand their service as part of the NSW Government’s Capital Works program, which will increase enrolments from 25 to 86 places.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian officially opened the new building and said it is evidence the NSW Government is working to ensure children have the best start in life.

“I am proud to officially open the new space at Bundanoon Preschool and demonstrate that the NSW Government is working hand-in-hand with communities to deliver the preschool infrastructure they need,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“It is vital the NSW Government continues investing in preschools like Bundanoon to ensure more children have access to quality early childhood education.”

Minister for Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell said Bundanoon was a perfect example of what can be achieved through the NSW Government’s Start Strong Capital Works Grants program.

“The number of children in NSW undertaking 600 hours of preschool has increased by a huge 40 per cent in the last year thanks to the Start Strong program and I want more preschools to follow in Bundanoon Preschool’s footsteps and apply for funding to establish or expand their service,” Mrs Mitchell said.

Member for Goulburn, Pru Goward said she was proud the NSW Government is backing the area’s littlest residents.

“As a Government, it is vital we continue to invest in our preschools. Children benefit so much from top quality early childhood education and an investment in them truly is an investment in their future and the future of our local community,” Ms Goward said.
