Goulburn Court Open Day Improves Access to Justice
Goulburn Courthouse will host a free open day on Friday to promote services that help the community address common legal problems, Attorney General Mark Speakman and Member for Goulburn Pru Goward announced today.
“The open day is an opportunity for people to ask questions about the law and legal services in a relaxed and informal setting,” Mr Speakman said.
“The community will also get an insight into the workings of the justice system and a chance to take a look inside one of the most majestic heritage courthouses in NSW.”
Ms Goward said the open day will provide legal information on a range of issues including fair trading, aged care, disability matters, drug and alcohol abuse and mental health.
“There will also be information on how victims of crime can access support and how disputes between neighbours, workmates and families can be resolved through free mediation,” Ms Goward said.
Highlights of the day include:
Presentation at 11am by Pathways Goulburn – Supporting a loved one who has an addiction
Presentation at 3pm by Legal Aid and Macarthur Legal Centre – Free legal services you can access
Information stalls from Headspace Goulburn, Flourish Australia, Goulburn Family Support, Zonta Club, Salvation Army, Mission Australia and Warrigal Care.
A number of government services will also have information stalls including the Department of Justice, NSW Fair Trading, Legal Aid, LawAccess, and the Criminal Justice Support Network – Intellectual Disability Rights Service.
The open day will be held at Goulburn Courthouse, 4 Montague Street, Goulburn, on 3 March from 10am – 3pm.
