Member for Goulburn Pru Goward welcomed a new Regional Development Framework which has been launched by the NSW Government to drive economic growth, business confidence and job creation across the Goulburn Electorate.
Ms Goward said the Regional Development Framework aims to grow regional business confidence, create jobs and encourage business investment.
“This framework is the first of its kind, providing an overall vision across government for regional development, building on previous regional plans and laying a positive platform for the future,” Ms Goward said.
“The NSW Government is committed to providing quality services, infrastructure and opportunities in the Goulburn Electorate, aligning efforts to support growing regional centres, and identifying and activating economic potential.
“This whole of government approach will ensure investments maximise the potential for growth and new jobs in each region including our region.”
Actions under the framework include improved regional governance structures to facilitate regional development, building the evidence-base for investment in regional development, attracting investment and co-investment, and building the capabilities of the regional workforce.
Minister for Regional Development John Barilaro said the NSW Government has a strong record when it comes to delivering for regional areas committing more than $13 billion investment in our first term and a further $6 billion in our second term.
“Regional NSW is leading the nation on jobs growth with more than 56,5000 jobs created over the year to June 2016 and regional business confidence is running high,” Mr Barilaro said.
“The Regional Development Framework will help continue that positive trajectory by helping the Government identify further opportunities that can make a real difference to regional communities.”
