NEW COMMUNITY TRANSPORT PROVIDER FOR GOULBURN REGION
Transport for NSW has appointed a new community transport provider for the Goulburn and Queanbeyan area.
Member for Goulburn Pru Goward said Valmar Support Services has won the competitive tender process and will provide community transport in the Goulburn and Upper Lachlan local government areas.
“Since March 2013, these services have been managed by the Home Care Service of NSW to ensure stable, consistent and ongoing service delivery in the Goulburn community while we identified a permanent provider,” Ms Goward said.
“Valmar is a not-for-profit community organisation providing a range of services to people with a disability and older people who are frail.
“Part of the challenge is to further establish and promote community transport in these regions and Valmar is well placed to engage the community on how community transport can provide vital transport links to those who would otherwise find it impossible to access medical appointments or social opportunities.”
Transport for NSW has started working with Valmar and the Home Care Service of NSW to allow a smooth transition to the new service for all customers. Community transport in the region is expected to be fully transitioned to Valmar and established within Goulburn and Queanbeyan by May.
