NSW SENIORS FESTIVAL HEADING TO GOULBURN IN 2019

Goulburn residents are set to be part of the biggest Seniors Festival in the Southern Hemisphere, with Goulburn Mulwaree Council receiving a share of $200,000 in NSW Government funding for events and activities across the State.

Member for Goulburn today announced Goulburn Mulwaree Council has received $3,250 to bring NSW Seniors Festival to Goulburn in 2019.

“NSW Seniors Festival brings people together, encourages seniors to try something new and fosters a great community spirit.”

“The NSW Government is supporting seniors in Goulburn to live life to the fullest through a number of initiatives including the Seniors Festival. I encourage seniors to join the fun and get involved in the activities taking place during the Festival,” Ms Goward said.

Kim Sorenson, Neighbour Aid Coordinator said Goulburn Mulwaree Council will celebrate NSW Seniors Festival by offering Community groups and professionals the chance to present information about their services in the venue through literature and personal interviews to seniors, health care professionals, community service providers and fitness instructors.

“Our program provides a range of activities to improve the lives of seniors and increase their profile within the community. The diversity of activities ensures there is something for everyone, providing opportunities for older people to socialise and participate in community life.

“There is no cost to participants for any of the activities and staff and volunteers from Goulburn Mulwaree Council Community Services can assist with transport and access, ensuring these activities are enjoyed by as many participants as possible,” Ms Sorenson said.

Minister for Ageing Tanya Davies said the 2019 NSW Seniors Festival theme is ‘Love Your Life’, which encourages seniors to participate in the community and live active, healthy and social lives.

“The Festival will give seniors the opportunity to participate in exciting activities with friends and family, meet others, and share their insights and experiences.”

NSW Seniors Festival 2019 is from Wednesday 13 to Sunday 24 February. For more information or to find local events and activities visit www.seniorsfestival.nsw.gov.au.
