SCHOOL ZONE EXTENSION FOR GOULBURN PUBLIC SCHOOL
Member for Goulburn Pru Goward has today welcomed much needed change for Goulburn Public School - advising motorists of an extension to the 40km/h school zone - after successfully lobbying the Roads and Maritime Services for a review.
The 40 km/h school zone will be extended an additional 60 metres south and 65 metres north along Bourke Street, 60 metres east along Clifford Street, and 65 metres east along Goldsmith Street.
Ms Goward said the review determined the school zone should be extended due to the existing zone being too close to the current children’s crossing.
“This is great for student safety in the busiest part of Goulburn.
“I’m very pleased to see the extension to the school zone, it will provide a greater coverage to the school’s main gate and ensure safer drop-off and pick up practices.”
Generally, 40 km/h school zones are provided on roads with an active direct access point from the school.
“The new school zone signs are expected to be installed this week, weather permitting,” Ms Goward said.
Once signs are in place, the extended 40 km/h school zone will operate between 8am and 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm on gazetted school days.
