Sick children at Goulburn Hospital will benefit from a share of $2 million investment in new and improved play areas as part of an initiative to make hospital stays easier for our youngest locals.

Member for Goulburn, Pru Goward said the funding will be used to make a hospital stay for children and their families a little less stressful.

“We know that a hospital environment plays an important role in the wellbeing of children and their families. We want to support families, and we hope this investment will help brighten the days of sick children and their families,” Ms Goward said.

“It’s also great for our clinical staff to share in planning for these new enhancements and working in an improved environment to deliver the very best healthcare to their young patients.

“Having children in hospital is a stressful time for families, and we want to make Goulburn Hospital as warm and welcoming, as possible, while at the same time first class medical attention.”

Goulburn is one of eight NSW hospitals to receive the NSW Government funding.

The funding will be used to:
 Improve the Child and Family Cottage at including painting, carpeting and joinery, soft fall in the outdoor play area, LED touch activity walls and furniture upgrade
 Provide new indoor and outdoor occupational therapy equipment in the Paediatric Gymnasium area and LED touch activity walls
 Deliver outdoor Ambulance Activity Centre equipment in the Children’s Ward and LED touch activity walls, sensory swing and Lumoplay floor projector
 Provide LED touch activity walls in the Emergency Department
 Provide two ‘Whisper Ride Cruisers’ in the Paediatrics Ward for transporting children around the hospital
Works are now getting underway and will be completed in 2019.
