COMMUNITY TRANSPORT WINS $3M BOOST

Community transport operators around have won a $3 million boost for services across NSW.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance and Member for Goulburn Pru Goward made the announcement today on a visit to Goulburn.

The new subsidy is available to services within in the NSW Community Transport Program and will see around an additional $20,000 per local government area to help provide transportation services to customers in remote NSW.

“We are targeting customers who have very limited transport options and no subsidies paid to them as individuals,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“This funding boost will help maintain certainty for operators and ensure vital transport services continue and remain viable for customers who rely on them.”

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said the boost to regional NSW community transport could be off the charts.

“With this extra funding for regional and remote NSW there is the potential to provide an extra 92,300 trips over two years, which can be life-changing for those who need improved access to services,” Mr Constance said.

Member for Goulburn Pru Goward said the funding was vital for NSW communities.

“By making this investment in community transport services, particularly in our community, we are ensuring that people are not unfairly disadvantaged for reasons of health or remoteness,” Ms Goward said.

The level of subsidy will vary from operator to operator; based on the service they provide.
