Australian River Restoration Centre Limited has received almost $100,000 from the NSW Government thanks to a grant that will enable them to continue their work on the large scale Rivers of Carbon Project, Member for Goulburn the Hon. Pru Goward MP has announced.

The Bush Connect Supplementary grant program has provided additional funding to previously funded Bush Connect projects to further improve and protect habitat within the Great Eastern Ranges.

“Australian River Restoration Centre Limited will be able to extend their conservation efforts within the Goulburn area,” Ms Goward said.
“The grant will assist them in building on the successful llarge-scaleRivers of Carbon project that focuses on connecting and linking riverbank rehabilitation projects that have been undertaken over the past 20 years by various groups.

This supplementary project was developed in response to ongoing community and landholder requests for assistance with riverbank rehabilitation to improve vegetation, reduce sedimentation and improve stock management.

Outcomes will include an additional 32 hectares of connected remnant vegetation across four new properties, along with associated increases in biodiversity and improved water quality.

The project will be carried out through the existing partnerships with Greening Australia, landholders, South-East Local Land Services, Landcare, and the broader community, who will be engaged in on-ground works and educational activities.

“This work is important because it’s helping protect and improve habitat and
passageways for native plants and animals, including threatened species,” Ms Goward said

A total of five supplementary grants were awarded to ongoing Bush Connect projects across NSW.
