Member for Goulburn, the Hon. Pru Goward is delighted to announce a grant of $15,000 for the Golspie community hall.

The funding is for the Golspie Progress and Landcare Association Inc. to renovate the Golspie Community Hall.

The roof and walls of the supper room and kitchen in the hall will be the focus of the works supported by the NSW Government’s 2017 Community Building Partnership (CBP) program.
Ms Goward said the program aims to assist communities to become more vibrant and inclusive by improving the local natural environment and recreational facilities.

“An upgrade of the hall will mean more opportunity for use by the local community to host gatherings like weddings and birthday celebrations
closer to home,” Ms Goward said.

“I’m thrilled to bring funding to a smaller community in the electorate like Golspie, I know the funding will help the space continue to grow as a community hub,” Ms Goward said.

Secretary and Treasurer of the Golspie Progress and Landcare Association Inc. Patrick Keough was pleased to hear that the application for funding was successful.

“On behalf of the community of Golspie, I would like to thank the NSW Government and the Member for Goulburn for this funding, which will help to repair the Golspie Hall. This little hall has a big history and we’re glad we can continue its improvement into the future,” Mr Keough said.

“It was the original “Golspie School of Arts”, built in 1905, a stage was added in 1920, a kitchen nine years later. It was rebuilt to its present state in the 1930s after electricity was connected in 1956 there were no major works done here until it’s last paint job in the year 2000.
Work will begin in 2018 with the project expected to be completed in early 2019.

L-R: Golspie Progress and Landcare Association Inc  President James Dean, Secretary and Treasurer Pat Keogh, Member for Goulburn Pru Goward and Upper Lachlan Shire Council Deputy Mayor John Stafford.
