Fair Trading Week: Celebrating consumer protection in Moss Vale
The 17th annual Fair Trading Week kicked off yesterday to celebrate the work of NSW Fair Trading in consumer protection, with outreach activities and events to be held across the state.
This year’s theme is KNOWvember, kicking off a month focused on encouraging consumers and businesses to understand their rights and responsibilities in the marketplace.
Member for Goulburn Pru Goward said an information session on Shopping and Australia Consumer Law will be held in Moss Vale on 2 November, 10am at Wingecarribee Shire Council Theatrette.
“The information sessions are a unique opportunity to explore the work of NSW Fair Trading and engage directly with staff,” Ms Goward
Last financial year, Fair Trading handled over 7.2 million requests for service on a broad range of issues, the most common relating to rental bonds, consumer rights and home building.
The contact centre alone assists around 3,500 customers per day with a successful resolution rate of around 90 per cent.
Fair Trading is constantly engaging with the community, holding information sessions for vulnerable disabled, youth, elderly and multicultural consumers and continuing professional development sessions for traders.
“These activities will be held around the state and I encourage everyone to check out the program of events and see what is happening in their local area,” Ms Goward said.
