Member for Goulburn Pru Goward today announced Crookwell’s Liz Ikin as the 2017 Local Woman of the Year for the Goulburn electorate.

Ms Goward said Mrs Ikin’s recognition recognises her outstanding contribution through her hard work and dedication to the local community.

“Liz Ikin is a true treasure of our region and it was about time she was recognised for the wonderful work she does to make Crookwell a great place to live, ” Ms Goward said.

“Liz embodies the Australian spirit of giving back, going above and beyond for those she supports as a Nurse, as well as raising money to support the Crookwell Show and other local events and charities.”

Mrs Ikin has worked as a nurse for nearly 30 years and runs the Poll Hereford Stud at Bannister with her husband, Ken. Mrs Ikin is also President of the Crookwell VIEW Club and volunteers for the Crookwell AP&H Show Society’s Women’s Auxiliary.

Ms Goward said she was delighted to name Mrs Ikin the 2017 Goulburn Local Woman of the Year.

“I am honoured to be able to acknowledge Liz’s work, which has long gone unrecognised with accolades, as well as her dedication and passion for improving the lives of her patients, and residents of Crookwell,” Ms Goward said.

Local award winners were invited to join their Member of Parliament at the 2017 NSW Women of the Year award ceremony held at the International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour on 8 March.
